Cement is a finely pulverized inorganic material which, in contact with water, alone or mixed with sand, gravel or other similar materials, has the property to set and hard, even under the water, as a consequence of chemical reactions which occur during hydration and, once it is hardened, it keeps its resistance and stability. When cement is mixed with water and sand, mortar is formed.
